1. Introduction
Tefsen (“Tefsen,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Tefsen Android application, Tefsen Web, tefsen.com, and related educational community services.
Tefsen is a public, text-first education and community platform. Users can create profiles, publish public text posts and comments, react to posts, save posts, follow other accounts in supported app versions, receive notifications, and access optional verification or subscription features. The current Android public-post composer does not allow image attachments, private messages, voice calls, or video calls.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Tefsen collects, how it is used, when it may be shared, how long it is retained, and how users can request deletion.
This policy covers the Android app, the Tefsen Web app, and the website. Features can differ between platforms; older Web content or separately available educational tools may continue to have associated data until it is deleted or retired.
By using Tefsen, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

3. Information we collect
The information collected depends on the Tefsen features you choose to use.
3.1 Account and authentication information
When you create or use an account, Tefsen collects or processes:
- Full name or display name
- Username
- Email address
- Firebase account identifier
- Authentication provider information
- Google account information provided through Google Sign-In
- Account creation and update timestamps
- Sign-in and account-security information
Tefsen does not collect or store your Google password. Authentication credentials are handled by Firebase Authentication and the selected authentication provider.
3.2 Profile and educational information
You may provide:
- Profile photograph
- Biography
- School or university
- Student category
- Academic interests and preferred subjects
- Verification status
- Reputation, badges and achievements
- Public profile details
3.3 Student-verification information
If you request a verified-student badge, Tefsen may collect:
- School or university name
- Institutional email address
- Student identification or index number
- Student identification document information
- Requested student role
- Verification-review status
Verification information is used only to review eligibility, prevent fraud, maintain community trust and administer verified badges. Verification material is restricted to authorized administrative review processes and is not intended to appear on public profiles.
Do not submit government identification unless Tefsen specifically requests it and it is necessary for verification.
3.4 Public text posts and community activity
When you use the public posting and community features, we may process:
- Public text posts, headlines and their content
- Public replies, comments and explanations
- Likes and other reactions
- Bookmarked or saved-post references associated with your account
- Follows and follower relationships where supported
- Reports, moderation reasons and safety actions
- Post and comment timestamps, update history and visibility status
- Support messages, feedback and account-deletion requests
Posting is public, not private messaging. Other people may read, quote, copy or share public content outside Tefsen. Please do not include contact details, account credentials, student IDs or other sensitive information in public posts.
3.5 Profile images and verification material
Public text posts in the current Android app do not include image attachments. Tefsen does not offer private image sharing, private chat, voice calls or video calls. You may still choose to upload a profile photo, which can be visible to other users. Optional student-verification workflows may request a document or image for authorized review; those documents are not intended to be displayed publicly.
Where an image upload is supported, the app may access photos or the camera only after you select the relevant option and grant any required permission. Supported uploads may be stored with Firebase Storage. Older public Web posts may contain image attachments created before the text-first redesign; they remain subject to deletion and moderation controls.
3.6 Subscription and purchase information
Tefsen offers optional subscription features through Google Play.
Tefsen may process:
- Subscription product
- Purchase token
- Subscription status
- Trial status
- Renewal and expiration status
- Purchase verification results
Payments are processed by Google Play. Tefsen does not receive or store your complete payment-card number or banking credentials.
3.7 Notification information
If notifications are enabled, Tefsen processes:
- Firebase Cloud Messaging token
- Notification preference
- Notification delivery information
- Notification type
- Related post or activity identifier
Notification tokens are used only to deliver Tefsen notifications to the appropriate device. You can disable notifications through Tefsen settings or Android system settings.
3.8 Device, diagnostic and usage information
Tefsen and its service providers may automatically process:
- Device model
- Android version
- App version
- Language and approximate region
- Internet Protocol address in service logs
- App-instance identifier
- Firebase installation identifier
- Advertising or device identifier when made available by Android or Google services
- App screens viewed
- Feature usage and interactions
- Sign-in, upload and request events
- Error and diagnostic information
- App-protection and security signals
- Performance and reliability information
This information is used for analytics, security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting and service improvement. Tefsen does not use this information to provide third-party targeted advertising.
3.9 Website information
When you visit tefsen.com or Tefsen Web, the website and its service providers may process:
- IP address
- Browser and device type
- Requested pages
- Session and authentication information
- Local browser storage
- Security and diagnostic logs
4. Android permissions
Tefsen may request the following Android permissions:
Camera
Where supported, used only when you explicitly choose to capture a profile or verification image. The current public text-post composer does not require camera access.
Notifications
Used for supported replies, likes, follow activity, verification updates and other relevant account activity, depending on the platform and your notification preferences.
Internet access
Used to sign in, synchronize profiles and public text content, transfer supported profile or verification images, verify subscriptions and deliver notifications.
Tefsen does not request access to your precise location, contacts, SMS messages, call history or microphone as part of its current core functionality.
5. How we use information
Tefsen uses collected information to:
- Create and operate user accounts
- Authenticate users
- Maintain profiles and usernames
- Display public text posts and replies
- Store and display user-selected profile photographs and process optional private verification uploads
- Display the public feed and supported community views
- Search for posts, subjects and users
- Process likes, saved posts, comments and supported follows
- Deliver account and community notifications
- Review student-verification requests
- Process support and account-deletion requests
- Moderate harmful, abusive, misleading or inappropriate content
- Apply warnings, timeouts and bans
- Prevent spam, fraud and misuse
- Verify Google Play subscriptions and trials
- Maintain app security through Firebase App Check
- Analyze product usage and reliability
- Diagnose errors and improve app performance
- Comply with legal obligations
- Protect users, Tefsen and the public
6. Public and community-visible information
Tefsen is a community service. The following information may be visible to other users:
- Display name
- Username
- Profile image
- Biography
- School or university when added to a profile
- Student role and verification badge
- Reputation and achievements
- Published public text posts
- Published public comments or replies
- Any legacy public image attachments that remain on older Web posts
- Public reactions and comment activity
- Follower and following relationships
Do not publish private contact details, passwords, identification documents, financial information or other sensitive information in public posts, replies or profiles.
Email addresses and student-verification documents are not intended to be displayed as part of the standard public profile.
8. Legal grounds for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, Tefsen processes information based on:
- Performance of the service requested by the user
- User consent
- Legitimate interests in operating, improving and securing Tefsen
- Protection of users and prevention of abuse
- Compliance with legal obligations
You may withdraw consent where processing depends on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.
9. Data security
Tefsen uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information, including:
- Firebase Authentication
- Access-control and database security rules
- Restricted administrator functions
- Encrypted network connections
- Protected cloud storage
- Private notification-token storage
- Firebase App Check and Play Integrity
- Authentication checks for sensitive actions
- Moderation and audit controls
- Limited access to verification and support information
No internet or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Users should protect their sign-in credentials and report suspected unauthorized access to support@tefsen.com.
10. Data retention
Tefsen retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
In general:
- Account and profile information is retained while the account remains active.
- Published content is retained until it is deleted, hidden or removed through account deletion or moderation.
- Profile and verification images, and any legacy uploaded media, are retained while needed for their stated purposes, active account use, applicable safety needs or legal obligations.
- Notification tokens are retained while notifications are enabled and the account or device remains active.
- Subscription records are retained while needed to provide subscription access, resolve payment issues and meet legal obligations.
- Support, moderation, fraud-prevention and security records may be retained longer when reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, resolve disputes or comply with law.
- Anonymous or aggregated information that can no longer identify a user may be retained for analytics and service improvement.
11. Account and data deletion
Users can request permanent deletion in any of these ways:
- On Tefsen Web, open Settings → Security → Account deletion, review the deletion details, then choose Request account deletion
- Visit https://www.tefsen.com/delete-account/ and use the deletion-request email link
- Email support@tefsen.com with the subject “Tefsen Account Deletion Request”
Tefsen Web treats full account deletion as a verified request, not an immediate one-click browser action. Tefsen may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify that the request comes from the account owner. Do not send passwords, one-time codes, recovery codes or authentication tokens.
Self-service removal of an individual public text post or profile photo is separate from full account deletion.
When an account-deletion request is completed, Tefsen deletes or removes the associated account, authentication record, profile, username mapping, authored public posts, comments or answers, associated profile photos and legacy uploads, reactions, follows, notification tokens, verification requests and associated personal information from active systems.
Information may be retained only when reasonably necessary for:
- Security investigations
- Fraud or abuse prevention
- Legal obligations
- Payment or transaction records
- Dispute resolution
- Moderation safety
- Enforcing the rights of other users
Where possible, retained records will be minimized or anonymized. Information already shared publicly by another user, independently copied by another person or required for an unresolved safety case may not be immediately removable.
12. User choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access personal information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated information
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent
- Request a portable copy of eligible information
- Submit a privacy complaint
You can edit profile details and notification preferences inside Tefsen. On Tefsen Web, Settings → Privacy also provides prefilled email actions for personal-data access and portable-data requests. Additional requests can be sent to support@tefsen.com.
Tefsen may need to verify your identity before processing certain privacy requests.
13. Children’s privacy
Tefsen is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. Age eligibility and any additional parental-consent requirements depend on applicable law and the app's published age restrictions. Public content is moderated under Tefsen's community and child-safety rules.
If we learn that personal information was collected from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information. A parent or guardian can contact support@tefsen.com.
14. International processing
Firebase, Google and other service infrastructure may process information in countries other than the user’s country. Privacy and data-protection laws may differ between countries.
Where required, Tefsen relies on appropriate safeguards provided by its service providers and applicable law.
15. Third-party links
Tefsen may contain links to external websites or services. Tefsen is not responsible for the privacy practices of services it does not control. Review the privacy policy of each external service before providing information.
16. Changes to this policy
Tefsen may update this Privacy Policy when the service, legal requirements or data practices change.
The updated policy will be posted at this URL with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or website where appropriate.
